  • increased risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in patients with type 2 diabetes, especially those who also take medicines for type 2 diabetes such as sulfonylureas or insulin.This is a major and frequent adverse effect. Discuss with your healthcare provider how to recognise and manage low blood sugar, and monitor your blood sugar before and while taking Wegovy®. Low blood sugar symptoms may include dizziness or lightheadedness, blurred vision, anxiety, irritability, or mood changes, perspiration, slurred speech, hunger, confusion or sleepiness, shakiness, weakness, headache, rapid pulse, or jitteriness.
  • kidney problems (kidney failure). In people who have kidney problems, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may cause a loss of fluids (dehydration), which may cause kidney problems to get worse. It is important for you to drink fluids to help reduce your chance of dehydration
  • serious allergic reactions.If you experience any signs of a major allergic response, such as swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, stop taking Wegovy® and seek medical attention immediately. Breathing or swallowing difficulties; severe rash or itching; fainting or dizziness; or a very fast heartbeat
  • change in vision in people with type 2 diabetes. Tell your healthcare provider if you have changes in vision during treatment with Wegovy®
  • increased heart rate.Wegovy® has the ability to raise your heart rate when you are at rest. Inform your doctor if you feel your heart racing or hammering in your chest for many minutes.
  • depression or thoughts of suicide. You should be aware of any mental changes, particularly any rapid changes in your mood, behaviours, thoughts, or emotions. If you see any new, worsening, or concerning mental changes, contact your healthcare practitioner straight away.

The most common side effects of Wegovy® may include: Nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdominal) pain, headache, weariness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, gas, stomach flu, heartburn and a runny nose or sore throat are all symptoms of a stomach flu.
